When you submit a Lost or Found pet report: the pet's type/name/description, photos you upload, the location and date/time last seen or found, your email address, and optionally your name, a preferred contact method (phone/social media), and a reward amount. We also automatically record your IP address at the time of submission, used only to enforce a one-report-per-day limit against spam.
Report details (except your direct contact information) are shown publicly so others can help reunite a missing pet. Your email is used privately by our "Found a Pet" relay system to forward messages to you without revealing your email to the sender. A phone number or social media handle you provide is shown only to someone who solves a captcha, to deter automated scraping.
We use a small number of external services to run the site:
• Resend — delivers emails (report confirmations, the Found-a-Pet relay, contact form messages).
• Cloudflare Turnstile — powers the "reveal contact info" captcha, and may set its own cookies as part of that check.
• OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — converts addresses you type into map coordinates, and vice versa.
None of these services are used for advertising or tracking, and we don't sell or share your data with anyone else.
Reports are visible publicly for 90 days, renewable by the person who submitted them. Data isn't automatically deleted after expiry — it's simply hidden from public view — but you can request full deletion at any time (see below).
Yes — contact us via the Contact page with your report ID (or enough detail to identify it) and we'll remove it. This is currently a manual process on our end.
We use a small amount of local browser storage to remember that you've seen the cookie notice, and (for site admins only) to stay logged into the moderation panel during a session. Cloudflare Turnstile may set its own cookies as part of the captcha check on the "reveal contact info" button. We don't use any advertising or analytics cookies.
We do keep basic, aggregate analytics — which pages get visited, roughly how many times, and which external sites people arrived from — so we can tell whether the site is actually being used and whether things like Facebook shares are working. This never tracks individual visitors, sets no cookies, and doesn't record IP addresses; it's just daily totals per page. This data isn't shared with anyone.
